The Experimentalist Podcast: Session 058 by Brandon Mitchell

They say 'Practice Makes Perfect'. They say 'Perfection is a Piece of Cake'. These sayings are either sarcastic jokes or sincere attempts made by some jokester to get the rest of us super serious folks to keep on keeping on. So, in honor of them, I use this episode as a safe practice space. There are several trials, but oddly, very few tribulations. That rarely ever happens so enjoy it while you can.

Sorry.

Scurry McSkurrington 5 by Brandon Mitchell

The David Bowie tribute band, 'Life on Mars', joins Ogle B Straight on a spooky, improvisational journey through various levels of consciousness brought on by a dose of heavy anesthesia. It is a little more than business as usual for the 'Scurry McSkurrington' festivities as Bowie himself makes an appearance and takes over the storytelling reigns. Please enjoy the fifth excursion into the weird, hallucinatory world of "Scurry McSkurrington".

Story by Ogle B Straight. Narrations by Ogle B Straight and John Conley. Music by Rusty Farmer, Aaron Thompson, Will Gorman, John Conley, Brandon 'Boogie' Martin, and Ogle B Straight. Also featuring Samson Trinh on melodica.

The Experimentalist Podcast: Session 056 by Brandon Mitchell

I'm feeling fortunate to be performing some of David Bowie's material this week with the band "Life on Mars" in Richmond, VA at Cary St. Cafe. It will be our first gig and it's been my primary focus for several months. This podcast was a good excuse to let loose on some improvisatory jams in between the heavy rehearsals going down this week. I didn't bring much in the way of stories to add to the music. Instead, it was just a simple session of listening and well. . .acting kind of wackadocious. But, you know, for me it's more about the jams. So, sit back, get into the zone, and enjoy these sounds!

SCURRY 5 TRIAL RUN.

Every couple of years, Ogle B Straight puts on a live performance entitled "Scurry McSkurrington" for Halloween. If he is fortunate enough, he'll assemble a group of instrumentalists to play and improvise some horror-style music to accompany a strange story. In preparation, he constructs the set ahead of time. This is that story with music performed by Ogle B and The Jeazje aka Will G.

Spoiler Warning: If you happen to be attending the live performance of Scurry 5, you may want to skip this episode. However, it still could be interesting to see the differences between this in-studio version verses the live one. The choice is yours, as always.
